In recent years, Schulze Pollmann has implemented an ambitious program of investment and expansion, opening several new factories to satisfy the increasing demand for its upright and grand pianos. With the skills of the craftsmen employed by the company and the use of advanced computerized machinery, capable of guaranteeing an extremely high level of precision and reliability at all stages of the production process, Schulze Pollmann is now one of Europe's foremost piano builders. The origins of Schulze Pollmann make it easy to understand why the company's instruments are famed for the robustness, durability and full, mellow tones that are commonly associated with the great German tradition of piano building. <p>Continuing in its tradition of making constant improvements to its instruments, Schulze Pollmann now introduces even greater perfection to its range of upright and grand pianos. The latest changes are mainly in the strung-back, and include new designs for the crown of the soundboard and ribs and for the strings, a different thickness of the soundboard and an exclusive and innovative system of gluing the soundboard to its supports. The improvements that are constantly made on all Schulze Pollmann models are the result of careful studies that combine an illustrious tradition of piano-building and the experience of skilled craftsmen with the most up-to-minute digital sampling techniques and sophisticated mathematical models. All Schulze Pollmann pianos are built to the classic and rigorously exacting criteria of the German school, in which the company's long tradition of quality is firmly rooted. The wood used for this fine instruments is subjected to a long seasoning process, aimed at obtaining exactly the right degree of humidity and stability. The soundboards are made with superiorred spruce selected from the best production areas of the Val di Fiemme forests. The panels of the soundboards are mortised together to guarantee complete solidity and resistance in any climate. The "Delignit" pin-blocks constructed in 15-ply beech ensure excellent constancy of tuning.
Other important accessories, such as the action, the hammers and steel strings, are guaranteed by the excellent reputation of producers such as Louis Renner, Abel and Roeslau. The strings of the bass section are made with advanced automated methods, allowing their quality to be constantly monitored and their characteristics to be varied as required. This ensures that the strings always exploit the maximum of their acoustic potential. The keyboard, with a full extension of 88 keys (7 1/4 octaves), is given its natural and particularly sensitive characteristics of touch by the carefully chosen wood used for the keys, faced with special warp-free materials. A grey cast-iron alloy created specifically for the purpose is used for the frame, manufactured in a single block, giving exceptional resistance to stress and vibration. Holes are drilled with a high-precision machine controlled by a computer, ensuring that the tuning pins, hitch pins and strings are always correctly positioned. The cabinets are constructed from panels with an inert wood core, overlaid with the finest veneers. Particular attention is dedicated to the painting or varnishing process, which apart from being decorative must also guarantee the maximum protection to the finished instrument. Great care is given to the adjustment of sound quality by our tuning technicians, who with a number of operations, in particular the setting of the hammers, succeed in bringing these remarkable instruments to life. </p>
<p>The acoustic results obtained are extraordinary. An exceptionally rich and mellow sound, with extended envelope persistency, to which tuners can apply their skill to obtain the best possible intonation for the setting where the piano is to be used. Absolute uniformity of timbre over the entire keyboard, with a special focus on the central area. Pure, clear tones, totally free from extraneous noises, vibrations and false harmonics. Remarkable sound dynamics, giving an ample range of volume and expression. The action and the keyboard are positioned to provide a perfect balance of leverages. Highly accurate fine adjustments and settings give a firm and consistently sensitive touch, which following the great traditions of Schulze Pollmann is perfect for every style of classical music. </p>
